The mission of the University’s Disability Support Service (DSS) is to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access to University of Maryland College Park programs. We accomplish this through the provision and coordination of direct services for students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors with disabilities. The services provided are tailored to meet the needs of each individual based on his or her specific disability.
The DSS welcomes Veterans with documented disabilities who are returning to the educational system. We understand that Veterans may have or might be experiencing unique disability related concerns that require our special attention. We recognize these issues and strive to ensure that the most comprehensive services are made available to eligible Veteran students through personal consultation with a DSS counselor and collaboration with the Veteran’s medical treatment team, Veteran’s Affairs representative, and/or Vocational Rehabilitation counselor. Please visit the DSS website at www.counseling.umd.edu/DSS for more specific information about eligibility requirements and available services. Contact the DSS at 301-314-7682 for a personal and confidential interview to discuss your academic accommodation needs.
